Bar Recommendations: 9/10 - 9/13, 2009
Thursday, September 10: Clemson vs. Georgia Tech (8pm, ESPN)
Where We Watch's recommendation: Brother Jimmy's Murray Hill, at the corner of 31st Street and Lexington Avenue. This is a good bar for ACC showdowns and a generally good Thursday night venue, since Murray Hill starts it weekends then. (This can be construed as a "good" or "bad" thing.)
Saturday, September 12: Notre Dame vs. Michigan (3:30pm, ABC)
If you're a Notre Dame fan and want intensity: The Public House, at 41st and Lexington.
If you're a Michigan fan and want intensity: Blondie's, at 79th and Amsterdam.
If you're a Michigan fan and want a little more low-key: Forum, at 12th Street and 4th Avenue.
If you'd rather watch the game and talk with friends: Anywhere can work, since the game is on ABC. Just tell your barkeep "ABC, please." It's typically Channel 7. A sleeper here may be Galway Hooker (36th between Madison and 5th) because that's a USC bar, but USC doesn't play until ...
Saturday, September 12: USC vs. OSU (8pm, ABC)
If you're a USC fan and want intensity: As mentioned above, Galway Hooker on 36th between Madison and 5th.
If you're an OSU fan and want intensity: Blondie's at 79th and Amsterdam will work, as will the Brother Jimmy's on the UES (92nd and 3rd).
If you want to watch the game with friends: Anything can work, since the game is on ABC. We'd recommend Landsdowne Road (44th and 10th), which has good space and should draw a good crowd.
Sunday, September 13: Dolphins vs. Falcons (1pm, CBS)
If you're a Dolphins fan: Third and Long -- 523 Third Avenue, also known as 39th and 3rd.
If you're a Falcons fan: Dempsey's at 61 Second Avenue, also known as 2nd Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets.
Sunday, September 13: Broncos vs. Bengals (1pm, CBS)
If you're a Broncos fan: Butterfield 8, on 38th Street between Madison and 5th Avenues
