The Bump and Run - Week 8
We are just about at the halfway point of the season which both excites and terrifies me. I am excited because we are starting to see a playoff picture emerge and we know the real teams to watch. I am terrified because I don't know what I am going to do with myself once the season is over. .I am also fairly afraid of the Giants recent performance. We all know that Eli is terrible in the wind, but the defense didn't put up a good performance either. If they drop a division game they will have some uphill climbing to do.
In other news, the Dolphins looked poised for an upset until the game slipped right though their hands just like the touchdown pass to Ted Ginn which would have beaten the spread (you bastard.) The Saints are the real deal, whereas the realdealitude (if ginormous *http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ginormous* can be a word, anything can) of the Broncos will be tested this week against the Ravens, who although unfortunate of late, are a scrappy bunch of guys that can absolutely pull out a win.
This week you can also look forward to Brett Favre getting ferociously booed at Lambeau, a solid AFC East matchup and your head caving in on Sunday. I am referring to the trifecta of games on Sunday that are all on FOX, Giants at Eagles, Vikings at Packers and Game Four of the World Series. If we are really lucky we could even have Mr. Joe Buck calling both the early and late games. Enjoy that, America.
What to Watch -
New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles - Sunday, November 1st - 1 PM -
Philadelphia is fresh off a trouncing of the Redskins, the NFC East's little brother who just insists on playing with the big kids. Depending on how games two and three of the World series go, the New York crowd is either going to be feasting for more Philly blood or looking for a little bit of solice in a Giants victory.
Take a shot - Anytime they parallel this game and the World Series, including graphics. Then hold tight, it could be a "home run".
Where to Watch - You can catch this pretty much wherever you'd like but one thing is for sure; if this is a Buck/McCarver/Aikman joint, make sure you are at a bar that doesn't play the audio.
Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers - Sunday, November 1st - 4:15 PM -
If Halloween was kind to you and you are bedridden until the late afternoon, do yourself a favor and pull yourself together for this one. Favre returns to Lambeau to a villian's welcome and batteries may fly. Aaron Rodgers tries to close the Vikings this time, and with a healthy O-line he might get the chance.
Take a shot - Whenever you can tell that Favre is just soaking it in. His fountain of youth is your tears.
Where to Watch - Lansdowne Road - 599 10th ave - You want to watch this game with the Packers fans. We all do.
Atlanta Falcons @ New Orleans Saints - Monday, November 2nd - 8:30 PM -
The Saints are the team to beat and the Falcons probably won't be the ones to beat them. However, the Falcons are a scrappy bunch and they have something to prove, so this game could get interesting. At the very least it's way better than Eagles at Redskins.
Take a shot - Everytime you feel bad about not betting the under of this one.
Where to Watch - Bar None - 98 3rd Ave - This dive is packed to the gills with Saints fans who are more rabid than ever. Wall to wall fun.
