The Edumacation: October 31-November 1, 2009
Lessons from College Football: October 31, 2009
1. Bevo may be going to Pasadena: You should never say never in college football, but Texas doesn't have another seemingly-losable game the rest of the way.
2. Oregon's renaissance is intense: That might be one of the "lowest points" to "highest points" swing in college football history. They were considered a complete joke after their first game of the season.
3. What world are we living in? The most important game in the Pac-10 this season might be Oregon vs. Arizona.
4. Iowa has to lose soon. Right? Right?!?! You'd assume this has to be close to happening by now, no? Best bet: Ohio State on November 14.
5. Fire up the parity debate again: Boise beat that Oregon team that is now everyone's darling in the game mentioned in (2) above. Boise has no chance of going to the BCS title game. Cue up the national columnists.
Lessons from the NFL: November 1, 2009
1. The Vikings are good: Thing is, it's actually their defense is good, which means a potential Saints/Vikings NFC title game would be fun.
2. The Giants are not that good: Can't run with the big dogs, it appears. You gotta think Eli's foot is an issue.
3. Texans vs. Colts next weekend might be interesting: Realize it was just the Bills, but doesn't it seem this Texans team is growing into themselves a little bit more? If they could finally beat the Colts, that'd be good for this franchise.
4. The Browns are absolutely awful: They may be the worst NFL team on any field this season. Pretty certain Oregon or Texas Saturday night could have beaten the Browns. Ugh. Just ugh.
5. Don't write off the Ravens yet: That performance was pretty dominating. They're back! (As soon as they lose again, we'll say "They're done! They're too old!") Being hair-trigger is fun.
