The Five Best Manchester United Songs and Chants

A Jumping-Off Point

This is the best compilation of Manchester United songs and chants we've ever come across on the Interwebs, and is a good starting point for your research:

5. Viva John Terry

We put this No. 5 because it has next to nothing to do with Manchester United vs. Barcelona, but it's still fun enough that it deserves a place here. Quite simply: John Terry messed up in a big way:

and Man U fans have a song for him:

Focused taunting is pretty sweet.

Lyrics:

Viva John Terry
Viva John Terry
Could've won the cup
but he f*cked it up
Viva John Terry

4. You Support a Load of (Expletive)

We don't condone vulgarity here, considering it a family site. This song is typically sung in response to rival fans chanting, "Do you come from Manchester?")

Lyrics:

You support a load of sh*t,
You support, a load of sh*t...

3. In Your Cup Final

To the tune of 'Go West.' Probably the most relevant song on this list you could hear on May 27th.

Lyrics:

2-0 in your cup final,
2-0 in your cup final,
2-0 in your cup final,
2-0 in your cup final!

2. One Stand Bigger than Your Ground

This is mostly awesome because it's set to the tune of "Coming Round the Mountain."

Lyrics:

We've got one stand bigger than your ground,
We've got one stand bigger than your ground,
We've got one stand bigger,
We've got one stand bigger,
We've got one stand bigger than your ground!

1. Can You Hear?

First rule of chanting, singing, oratory, the song "Shout" in Animal House and, let's be honest, sex: things have to build from a low point to a high point. The best thing about "Can you hear?" is that it starts out with a simple concept: "Can you hear (opposition's name) sing?" with a simple refrain: "Nooooooooo...." and then ends all powerful-like, with "I can't hear an (expletive) thing and a Ric Flair-style WOOOOOOO." Tremendous. Watch the clip for full enjoyment. Definitely have this one ready to go as you cling to the mahogany for stability in the middle of a Wednesday afternoon. Gosh, that's depressing.

Lyrics:

Can you hear the (opposition name) sing?
noooooooooo, noooooooooooo
Can you hear the (opposition name) sing?
noooooooooo, noooooooooooo
Can you hear the (opposition name) sing
I can't hear a f*ckin' thing (Waooo aoooo (argh!))
