With everyone's eyes on the world's best kicking around a ball, it's been easy to get lost in the wail of the vuvuzela. Those heinous horns have stolen focus from basketball's biggest rivalry vying for a trophy, the heart of baseball season and the U.S. Open (the boring one). However, if you can avert your eyes from South Africa for a minute, there is going to be an interesting one in England.
June 21st marks the start of the 124th Wimbledon Championships and even Queen herself will be in attendance for the first time in 30 years. That old bag doesn't strap on her fancy hats for nothing, either. As much as Her Majesty would love to see Scot Andy Murray make it through to the final, he won't be able to take down the usual suspects until he gains some maturity and evens out his game. If you have been within earshot of any tennis, you know what Andy Roddick accomplished last year. The young American had an answer for everything Federer threw at him. He eventually fell to the Swiss phenom, but it took more games than it had ever taken a man in a final before. After an early exit from Roland Garros, Roddick is gearing up for the grass and hoping to make a play for the title once again. His road will not be an easy one, conceivably meeting Djokovic in the quarters and Nadal in the semis while trying to leave enough in the gas tank to take another run at Fed.
The bar is a great place to get loud for a Wimbledon match and our American could conceivably make it further than our national soccer team, so why not pick a stool and catch a match? Just don't bring those damned vuvuzelas.
