Where to Watch the Mayweather - Mosley Fight in NYC

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley are gonna hook up (not in the conventional sense) on Saturday night, May 1, providing you a good reason to pace yourself from the beginnings of Derby hype; since there's no way these two touch gloves before 11pm EST, and Derby hype will begin at 5 (gate time is 6:04-ish), you could have a problem if you try to go strong the whole way. (This problem happened to some Where We Watch organizers in 2009.)

Basic things to know and/or discuss with your friends about this fight: Mayweather is ostensibly the best fighter of the last 10 years (some would argue that claim, certainly); he's undefeated and he's been a pugilist since 1996. He's flashy and brings in nice PPV draws and ratings for 24/7. The knock on him is fairly basic: people claim he doesn't fight elite opponents; Mosley is, in fact, the first champion at the welterweight level he's battled (Floyd has won titles at six weight classes). If you bet fights, we'd take Mayweather in this one. While he's getting old, he's still fast as a cat out there -- and to use a semi-worthless cross-sport comparison, remember how everyone the last two weeks was talking about Kobe Bryant getting old? The Lakers are likely still making the finals. Mosley will give Mayweather a good one, though; it'll likely go the distance.

In an ideal world, this leads to the fight everyone actually wants to see -- potentially the largest boxing draw in modern American history -- of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. In a non-ideal world? It's as boring as Jones Jr. vs. Hopkins was. Blegh.
