Where We're Watching

Nevada Smiths

Nevada Smiths

74 3rd Avenue (Between 11th Street and 12th Street)

Let's start with the obvious. Nevada Smiths is second to none in this city for their round-the-clock football coverage and they have been ramping up for the South African showdown for months. They likely won't offer huge specials, but let's not kid ourselves, they don't really need to.

Stout

Stout

133 W 33rd Street (Between Broadway and 7th Avenue)

Stout is an obvious choice for this year's World Cup. With three levels of bars, tables and tvs, there is plenty of space to see the game you want. When you add in a varied beer selection and great breakfast specials for the morning games, you get a place that makes the sports-viewing experience better.

The Parlour

The Parlour

250 West 86 Street (Between Broadway and West End Avenue)

Want to know where droves of football fans throw Manhattan into a frenzy all year long? Look no further than the Parlour, the only bar west of Central Park with true Champions League appeal. There's no mistaking the type of football that draws a crowd here - the Parlour will keep the UWS honest during this year's tournament.

Playwright Irish Pub

Playwright Irish Pub

27 West 35th Street (Between 5th and 6th Avenue)

John from Playwrights is pulling out all the stops for this once-in-four-years World Cup opportunity to show fans how fabulous his bar is. The bar will be decked out with surround sound audio for all the games to make you feel like you're in the middle of the action. Drafts are $3.50, specials on breakfast for early games and free hot dogs for the 2:30 games. FREE HOT DOGS! You won't be disappointed.

Central Bar NYC

Central Bar NYC

109 East 9th St (Between Broadway and 3rd Avenue)

Right around the corner from Nevada Smiths, Central Bar is unabashedly willing to absorb the famed soccer pub's spillover crowd to an equally football-friendly East Village locale. TVs can be found everywhere you look, drink and food specials abound and the uncharacteristically large EV space ensures you and your friends can find a comfortable corner to catch the game.

Galway Hooker

Galway Hooker

7 East 36th Street (Between 5th and Madison Avenue)

Galway Hooker has something for everyone. Not only is it spacious, but it offers plenty of bar space to try to secure that all important beverage. True to its European roots, Galway Hooker will feature World Cup on all the tvs throughout the joint, with their normal food/drink specials. They are generally good about playing audio and offer an eclectic and tasty food menu.

Third and Long

Third and Long

523 3rd Avenue (Between 34th and 35th st)

Third and Long will be open early every day so that you can catch ALL aired matches (7:30am, 10am and 2:30pm)!
They will be offering up $4 pints of Bud/Bud Light, Blue Moon, Yuengling Lager, Amstel Light, Abita, Newcastle, Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Magic Hat #9, Sam Adams, and Sam Summer Ale.
All matches will be w/audio!

McCormack’s Pub

McCormack’s Pub

365 Third Avenue (Between 26th and 27th Street)

This is an official 'World Cup partner bar' for 2010 and should be rocking (in the true Murray Hill definition) for every game of the tournament. The bar will be opening early for all the 07:30 games with daily specials, so head on over and enjoy their famous Irish breakfast and still make work by 09:30!

Lansdowne Rd

Lansdowne Rd

599 10th Avenue (Between 44th and 45th Streets)

While we know that the trek to 10th Ave can seem too far sometimes, consider Lansdowne Road for the 10:30 and 2:30 games. They will feature their usual specials, including beer towers ($30, regardless of brand) and a 'Daily Double' where one draft beer and one bottled beer are four dollars each all day. All good things.

Southern Hospitality

Southern Hospitality

Make your way to SoHo for the self appointed best World Cup viewing on the UES.
