2009 U.S. Open

Roger thought his ride through the All-England club would be a breeze. Rafael Nadal, the Warden Norton to Federer's Andy Dufresne, was out of commission with knee problems. But Andy Roddick showed us that there is no such thing as a forgone conclusion, dropping the hometown favorite Andy Murray in the semis and giving Roger a white knuckle ride through the longest Grand Slam final ever. The bell is tolling, and it seems that the days of Rafa/Roger dominance may be coming to an end.

It will be interesting to see how the top American candidates perform on home turf. Blake and Roddick both flourish on hard court. The out of towners aren't so bad either. Andy Murray wants a Grand Slam trophy so bad he can taste it, and let's not forget that Rafa is back, and looked in top form as he downed partyboy Richard Gasquet in 3 sets. Also, as an added bonus, the final isn't on European time so you don't have to wake up surly and hungover to watch the final. Enjoy!
